Hurricane Season 2021
Starts June 1 and runs through November 30
However, the National Hurricane Center says it will begin issuing Tropical Weather Outlooks in May, weeks before the June 1 beginning of hurricane season. The federal agency is also considering moving up the official start date of the Atlantic hurricane season to May 15. Named systems have formed in the Atlantic prior to the official start of the season in each of the last six years. In 2020, there were two named systems before June 1. Are you prepared?
Shelter Maps will be available in the Clubhouse Lobby in May. The Polk County Emergency Management Division operates a limited number of Special Care Shelters. Admittance requires pre-registration. Forms are available on the table by Clubhouse Office or on the FLHamptons.com website.
When a storm is heading our way, remove ALL items (i.e., plants, chairs, gas grills, bicycles, address signs, flags, etc.) from all exterior areas and store them inside. This includes putting your golf car in the shed and removing satellite dishes mounted on your patio or common area. Any of these items can damage not only your home and/or property but the home and/or property of anyone in your neighborhood.
For a complete Emergency Preparedness Guide, please go to FLHamptons.com website and look for the guide and other documents under Emergency Preparedness.
No one has control over the storms but everyone has control over being prepared.
