Please consider joining the Federation of Manufactured Homes Owners of Florida, Inc. (FMO) ... the only statewide, nonprofit consumer advocacy organization that is dedicated to protecting the rights of manufactured home owners in the Florida Legislature. It provides services in the following areas: legislation, litigation, legal counsel, lobbying, research, and education. The FMO is our only voice in Tallahassee and it promotes enrichment of the lifestyle you've chosen for your retirement years. In the last five years alone ... the FMO has been responsible for a variety of new and improved/defended legislation:
  • Created FMO Insurance Committee
  • Testified before appropriate Citizens Property Insurance Corporation Committees to seek relief for FMO homeowners
  • Defeated legislation to permit new prospectus at resale
  • Legal defense in appellate court of a pro-FMO decision by DBPR regarding new prospectus at resale
  • Maintained dialogue between FMO "Team DBPR" and the DBPR
  • Passed legislation that provides a new Right of First Refusal to park residents, through the homeowner's association, when the park would close due to change in use
  • The same bill requires that a homeowner in violation of a local code or ordinance must receive actual notification of the violation
Tie Down Program
  • Defeated legislation to abolish the Mobile Home Tie Down Program
  • Negotiated with Tallahassee Community College to include skirting removal from some homes within the tie down program
  • Obtained full funding for Mobile Home Tie Down Program
  • Prevented the end of the tie down program
